Art Blooms Floral Design Exhibit at Anne Marie Sculpture Gardens & Arts Center

The Anne Marie Sculpture Gardens & Arts Center held its 11th annual Art Blooms event in Solomons, MD.  More than 35 floral designers across the region presented their works of art for the three-day exhibit July 10-12.

Many artworks are inspired by flowers. For example, Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings of sunflowers are among one of his most famous pieces. The florists are eager to use fresh flowers to make  paintings come to life. What’s really cool is that the floral designers view the artwork  in the gallery in such a short time and quickly get their ideas working. It’s a very motivational and moving experience to see the installments.  The exhibit co-hosted by the Calvert Garden Club.  I wasn’t able to make it this year but I emailed the President of the Calvert Garden Club Joyce Fletcher and she said the gala (during non-COVID) is an important fundraiser for the Anne Marie Gardens.

She also said there are floral designers from Calvert County as well as other Maryland counties (Annapolis included).  They use flowers from the Calvert County gardens and supermarkets, some go to Potomac Floral Wholesale in Silver Spring because the club is a member of the wholesaler.
